My Review of Goofy’s Kitchen

Goofy’s Kitchen is a character meal at the Disneyland Hotel. Breakfast and dinner are served. My daughter and I recently enjoyed breakfast there. Here is our experience.

Even though we had a Goofy’s Kitchen reservation (and there were no more spots available), the restaurant was accepting walkups while we were there. We arrived a few minutes late, through no fault of our own, and it wasn’t a problem.

After we checked in and were called, we had a few PhotoPass pictures taken. These were included with the price. There were no characters in the pictures, but we did have one MagicShot.

We were then seated. There was space between the tables, and masks were required until we were eating and drinking. They also needed to be worn to and from the buffet.

The buffet itself was self-serve. There were hand sanitizer dispensers in several areas.

The food was mostly typical breakfast food, with some brunch-type choices as well. There were a few special items, including the signature Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza.

My daughter has a dairy allergy, which we had already noted. A chef took us through the buffet so that we could learn what was safe for her to eat. The chef was wonderful, she put in a special order for several items, including allergy-friendly Mickey Waffles.

There are no up close pictures with characters right now, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of character interaction. Every few minutes the music would change, and several classic characters would dance throughout the room.

The characters that we saw were Minnie, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and, of course, Chef Goofy. I’ve heard that Mickey is usually a part of the meal, but he wasn’t there that day. Characters can and do change at character meals, so keep that in mind before promising your little ones that they will see a favorite.

All in all, we had a great time at Goofy’s Kitchen. It’s not a cheap meal, and the food was good but nothing extraordinary. Still, the characters made the meal. We would definitely do it again.

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH, and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married, and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010, we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the Parks. Under the name Paula Brown, I penned the novels 'Dream Wanderers' and 'The Coffee Cruiser'. I also am a co-author of 'Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide'. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida.
