Transportation From Orlando International Airport: The Sunshine Flyer

The end of Disney’s Magical Express has left many future travelers wondering how they will get to and from Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World. Don’t worry, there are some good options out there. They aren’t free, but they are affordable.

A brand new option will debut on February 1. The Sunshine Flyer will provide a themed trip to and from the airport and your hotel. While you’ll be riding a bus, it will be designed to have the feel of a 1920s locomotive.

Here is how it is described on the official website:

The Sunshine Flyer brings the era of 1920’s rail travel to the start of your vacation. The Sunshine Flyer’s buses will bring you  and your family from Orlando Airport to Disney World® Resorts on a late model, premium motorcoaches with a theme centered around old-fashioned passenger cars and train locomotives.  From the bus designs to drivers and staff dressed as 1920’s rail conductors and engineers, the Sunshine Flyer experience starts shortly after you step off the plane.

Each motorcoach will be wrapped either as a 1920’s era locomotive or passenger car.  No two vehicle designs will be the same, providing a distinctiveness for each Sunshine Flyer ride, giving first time riders and returning guests a new experience and photo opportunity each time they ride The Sunshine Flyer.

In 2022 The Sunshine Flyer will be adding new locations to our service, including Orlando Hotels, International Drive Hotels, along with other Disney Partner Hotels.

The cost for The Sunshine Flyer will be $17 each way for anyone ten and older, and $12.50 for children ages three through nine. Those under three years old are free.

In honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, The Sunshine Flyer will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to the Make a Wish Foundation of Central & Northern Florida. This will be for the first 50 days of service.

Paula K

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH, and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married, and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010, we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the Parks. Under the name Paula Brown, I penned the novels 'Dream Wanderers' and 'The Coffee Cruiser'. I also am a co-author of 'Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide'. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida.
