On February 3, Disney Cruise Line announced that the maiden voyage of the Disney Wish had been pushed back. She was supposed to sail on June 9, but the new date is July 14. Shipyard delays are the reason for the setback.
At the same time, new bookings on the Disney Wish were placed on hold. That hold has been removed, and future passengers are now able to book Disney Wish vacations once again. Dates are available through May, 2023.
Weeks’ worth of vacations were cancelled because of the delay. Those affected were notified by Disney Cruise Line. They were offered a choice of a full refund or 50 percent off a future cruise. Many opted for the discount and used it to book a dream cruise to Alaska or upgrade to concierge.
After the five night maiden voyage, the Disney Wish will offer three and four night cruises out of Port Canaveral. There will be a stop in Nassau, the Bahamas, and Castaway Cay, Disney’s private Bahamian island.
The Disney Wish will step outside of some of the typical things that you might expect to find on a Disney Cruise Line vessel. Palo will be Palo Steakhouse. Enchanté will be the other adult dining restaurant.
There will be no Cabanas buffet. Instead, Marceline Market will have several quick dining options.
Rotational Dining will reach the next level. The three restaurants will be Arendelle a Frozen Dining Adventure, 1923, and Worlds of Marvel. The latter will be an experience that features several stars from the franchise.
Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge will welcome all ages during the day, but will become an adult-only hangout at night. Quiet Cove will be a place for adults to relax.
There will be three shows on the Disney Wish. ‘The Little Mermaid’ is a new telling of the classic “tail”, created just for the Disney Wish. The other shows will be ‘Disney Seas the Adventure’ and ‘Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular.
The kids clubs will keep the children happy and active all day long. They can enter a favorite franchise, become an Imaginer, or create a floating lantern. There is a secret entrance to the kids clubs that they will love!
A new feature for the Disney Wish is the AquaMouse. It will be the first the “first-ever Disney attraction at sea”.
Will you be booking a vacation on the Disney Wish? We plan to, but we’re not yet sure when.
