5. Security and Transportation
Once you park in the main Mickey structure, you’ll be ushered through security. That’s right, security comes before the tram at Disneyland! Once your bags have been checked, you’ll board ONE tram that takes you to the entrances of both Disneyland and California Adventure parks. (The signage for this is not obvious, so it’s easy to get confused. Just follow the crowd.) However, if the security line is long at the parking lot, you can skip the tram by taking a short (maybe three block) walk to Downtown Disney where there’s an alternate security checkpoint. (Just follow the signs for the walkway to Downtown Disney.) We used this route on the day we planned to visit Disneyland park, since there’s also a Monorail station at Downtown Disney that will take you directly into Tomorrowland (you scan your ticket before boarding the monorail and thus skip the main entrance turn style). We saved a TON of time this way!
