20. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
President Abraham Lincoln is considered by many to be one of the greatest presidents of all time, and Walt Disney certainly shared this opinion as he personally considered Lincoln to be his boyhood hero. He even once recited Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in front of his elementary school class. Therefore, it isn’t surprising to learn that on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park there is an attraction that pays tribute to this great American leader. For this experience, guests venture into the theater, bypassing a series of art, artifacts, relics, and representational models showcasing Lincoln’s life and legacy. Once seated in the auditorium the show commences with a film comprised of paintings, photographs, and the dramatic telling of Abraham Lincoln’s life, from childhood onto his presidency and the hardships and trials that came with the American Civil War. At the film’s conclusion, a stunningly lifelike animatronic version of the great man is presented on stage, rising from his chair and sharing his powerful words with the listening crowd.
