Harmonious at EPCOT

Harmonious is the perfect way to end your day at EPCOT. The nighttime spectacular officially debuted on October 1, 2021, although there were previews the two previous evenings. October 1 was the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, and the 39th anniversary of EPCOT.

Harmonious replaced EPCOT Forever. That was a temporary replacement for the long-running IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Work for Harmonious needed to be done in World Showcase Lagoon, and, unlike IllumiNations, EPCOT Forever took place mainly in the sky.

You can’t miss the structures in World Showcase Lagoon when you are at EPCOT. These are part of what makes Harmonious unique. They are an integral part of the show.

Harmonious celebrates cultures around the world through Disney films. The theme of world unity isn’t as strong as it was in IllumiNations, but it is still there.

Some of the films that are included in Harmonious are ‘Brave’, ‘The Lion King’, and ‘Mulan’. Scenes from the movies play on the water screens that are created in the structures in World Showcase Lagoon. There are gorgeous effects, and at times you might not know where to look because so much is going on.

There are plenty of fireworks and they complement the story. An interesting effect is created from the smoke from the fireworks as it receives projections as well.

Music is an integral part of Harmonious. You will recognize the songs, but you might not know the arrangements. The music was re-recorded, using 240 artists from around the world.

Finding the perfect spot to watch Harmonious can be tricky. You will be able to see an incredible show no matter where you stand along World Showcase. To get the full effect, though, you will want to be able to clearly see the circular structure.

Some full service restaurants at EPCOT offer fantastic views of Harmonious. These include Spice Table Road and Rose & Crown. Book a Fireworks Dining Package to enjoy a delicious meal and have a coveted place to see the show.
