Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Stays Closed

The cold temperatures continue in Central Florida, which means that if you are at Walt Disney World, a day at Typhoon Lagoon will not happen. The Water Park will remain closed on Tuesday, January 25, and Wednesday, January 26.

The next date that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon has hours listed on the Walt Disney World Calendar is Thursday, January 27. That does not mean that it will be open that day, it just means that a decision has not yet been made.

The extended forecast does not look much better for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. The rest of the weekdays will have little sun, some rain, and high temperatures in the 60s. The weekend is even cooler, with high temperatures only in the low to mid 50s.

Disney will usually keep the Water Parks closed if the high temperature will not reach 70 degrees. The next day in the extended forecast where the temperature is predicted to reach 70 is Tuesday, February 1.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is currently closed for its annual refurbishment.

Aquatica Orlando, SeaWorld’s Water Park, remains closed on January 25 as well. There are hours listed for Wednesday, January 26, but that could change.

Universal’s Volcano Bay is currently closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hours are listed for Wednesday, but, like Aquatica, you will want to double check before heading to the Water Park.

Even though the Water Parks are closed, that doesn’t mean you can’t spend a day in the water. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, the pools should be open. The water is heated.

During the summer months, the forecast is similar most days. It will be hot, humid, and there will be a chance of a quick thunderstorm in the afternoon.

The winter months are a different story. It could be hot and humid, or it might be cold with a chance of frost. This could all happen within the same week! Check the forecast before you leave home so that you will be prepared.

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH, and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married, and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010, we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the Parks. Under the name Paula Brown, I penned the novels 'Dream Wanderers' and 'The Coffee Cruiser'. I also am a co-author of 'Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide'. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida.
