3. DISNEYLAND THROUGH THE YEARS
Disneyland was an ever-evolving dream from the beginning—always growing and improving. In 1959, the “E” ticket was introduced. It was the most expensive ticket available at Disneyland and offered access to the park’s most exciting rides like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. In 1963, the Tiki Room was born at the park, and the term “animatronics” was coined. And by 1964, Disneyland had generated more revenue than the Disney films.
The FastPass system was introduced at Disneyland in 1999, and two years later in 2001, Disneyland opened new parts of a huge expansion as Downtown Disney, Disney’s California Adventure and the Grand Californian Hotel opened.
In 2004, Disneyland welcomed its 500 millionth Guest into the parks. The park continued to grow, change and expand, adding more attractions and entertainment. In 2010, the World of Color opened, and two years later in 2012, Cars Land opened at Disney’s California Adventure, bringing to fruition a large part of yet another extensive expansion in the park.
