Disney World Shuts Down Port Orleans Resort Location Effective Immediately

Walt Disney World is no stranger to closures right now.

Between ongoing attraction refurbishments and a steady run of resort projects, guests visiting Central Florida this fall have had to plan around more than a few construction walls. Now, another has gone up, and this time it is not inside a theme park.

As of October 6, 2026, two popular locations at one of Disney World’s Moderate Resorts have officially closed, and they will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Disney gave guests only about a month’s notice, and the change is already reshaping how those staying at the resort eat, drink, and start their mornings.

A Taste of New Orleans at Port Orleans – French Quarter

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter makes up one half of the larger Port Orleans complex, sitting alongside Port Orleans – Riverside. Inspired by New Orleans’ historic French Quarter, the resort is known for its compact layout, wrought-iron balconies, and year-round Mardi Gras atmosphere.

As a Moderate Resort, the French Quarter has long been a favorite for guests seeking immersive theming without Deluxe Resort pricing.

Scat Cat’s Club Café and Lounge Have Closed

The closure affects both Scat Cat’s Club – Café and Scat Cat’s Club – Lounge, which shut their doors for refurbishment on October 6.

Losing either would be felt. Losing both at once has noticeably changed the resort. The Café is the French Quarter’s major quick-service stop and is best known for Disney’s Mickey-shaped beignets, served alongside coffee, pastries, and breakfast items. The adjoining Lounge offers cocktails, drinks, and light bites in the resort’s New Orleans setting, making it a go-to evening spot for guests winding down after a park day.

How Long Will Scat Cat’s Club Be Closed?

Disney currently expects the Café to reopen in December 2026, while the Lounge has a later projected return in January 2027. That means the disruption will stretch through the holiday season and into the New Year. As always, Disney refurbishment schedules can shift, and neither date is guaranteed.

Temporary Alternatives Now in Place

Disney has put measures in place to preserve some of the resort’s usual offerings during the closure. A temporary bar is now operating near the Café from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Beignets and coffee have moved to Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory, the resort’s other quick-service restaurant. Guests can also still pick up the seasonal Ghoulish Delight beignets at Sassagoula Floatworks through November 1.

What This Means for You

If you are staying at Port Orleans – French Quarter in the coming months, your usual dining routine will look different. Sassagoula Floatworks is now effectively the resort’s primary stop for coffee and beignets, so plan your mornings accordingly.

The temporary bar keeps some of the Lounge experience alive in the evenings, but neither replacement fully replicates what Scat Cat’s Club normally offers. If you have an upcoming stay, check Disney’s latest refurbishment information closer to your arrival date in case the reopening schedule changes.

Another Resort Disruption at Disney World

The Scat Cat’s Club closure is the latest in a wider wave of resort refurbishment projects across Walt Disney World. While it is not permanent, losing two of the French Quarter’s most recognizable locations for several months is a change that returning guests will notice.

For anyone staying at the resort through the end of 2026, the takeaway is simple: plan around the Scat Cat’s Club closures and lean on the temporary arrangements until the Café and Lounge return.
