Disney World Reassembles Germany Pavilion Experience at EPCOT, Closures Linger

World Showcase regulars know the rhythm of EPCOT better than almost anyone. Pavilions get scrims, shops get walls, and the park’s slow, careful maintenance cycle rolls on in the background of a million vacation photos. But the Germany Pavilion has been testing even the most patient fans lately. Over the past couple of days, closures have been stacking up across the pavilion with little warning and no official explanation, leaving guests genuinely unsure of what is happening, what will be open, and whether their favorite corner of the village will be behind a wall when they arrive.

The good news is that the picture just improved. One of the recently closed locations has reopened, and a familiar family stop has found a new home in the process. Der Teddybar is back in business, and the pavilion’s Kidcot station has moved inside it. Here is the full state of the Germany Pavilion right now, including what is open, what is closed, and what the paperwork suggests about how long this all might last.

Der Teddybar Reopens After a Brief Closure

Der Teddybar, the Germany Pavilion’s beloved teddy bear shop, closed on July 13 for refurbishment without advance notice. The closure lasted barely a day. As of July 14, the shop is open again, and guests can once more browse its shelves of Steiff teddy bears and other goods in a space decorated wall to wall with children’s toys.

For families, the reopening comes with a bonus change. The pavilion’s Kidcot Fun Stop has moved inside Der Teddybar, now stationed in the room near the registers. Kids working their way around World Showcase collecting activities at each pavilion will find the Germany stop tucked among the teddy bears, which is honestly a fitting home for it.

The move settles a bit of recent shuffling. Just days ago, the Kidcot station was spotted temporarily set up inside Das Kaufhaus, where it blocked the doors connecting that shop to Volkskunst Clocks and Crafts. Das Kaufhaus remains open, but the Kidcot relocation to Der Teddybar clears that awkward setup.

What Is Still Closed in the Germany Pavilion

Not everything has bounced back. Volkskunst remains closed, with a table blocking its front entryway, and no reopening date has been shared. The pavilion’s restrooms have also closed for refurbishment, with guests directed to nearby facilities while the work continues.

The most visible project surrounds Stein Haus, one of the pavilion’s best-known shops for German steins, glassware, and ornaments. Over recent weeks, rolling planters, construction walls, scrim, and scaffolding first appeared around the shop’s entrance before spreading to cover the second-story balcony, the decorative staircase, and even the iconic Stein Haus sign. The shop itself has stayed open throughout, accessible through alternate entrances including the nearby Weinkeller doorway, but the exterior is far from photo-ready.

Add it all up, and the Germany Pavilion, a World Showcase original dating back to EPCOT’s 1982 opening, is simply not operating at its best right now. The cobblestone village charm is still there, and Biergarten Restaurant continues serving, but guests should arrive with adjusted expectations.

What the Permits Suggest About the Germany Pavilion Timeline

Disney has not announced the scope of the Germany Pavilion project or an expected completion date, but public records offer clues. Newly amended Orange County permit documents show Disney updated an existing Notice of Commencement covering general construction at 1750 Avenue of the Stars, an address associated with EPCOT.

The amended filing names MSG Legacy, Inc., doing business as RSS Roofing Services and Solutions Florida, as the contractor, and extends the legal notice through January 29, 2027, unless the work wraps sooner or another amendment is filed. Notices of Commencement rarely spell out exactly what work is planned, but they are required before construction can begin or continue in Florida, and the contractor’s roofing and exterior specialty lines up with the visible scaffolding around Stein Haus.

Importantly, there is no indication the Germany Pavilion is getting a large-scale reimagining. The work appears focused on preserving one of World Showcase’s original pavilions, part of the broader wave of maintenance projects that has continued across EPCOT since the park completed its multi-year transformation.

What Guests Should Expect Right Now

For now, the practical rundown is simple. Der Teddybar is open with Kidcot inside near the registers. Das Kaufhaus is open. Stein Haus is open through alternate entrances despite the scaffolding. Volkskunst and the pavilion restrooms are closed, and the exterior work shows no sign of wrapping soon.

The Germany Pavilion has weathered more than four decades of Florida sun, and a season of scaffolding is the price of keeping it beautiful for the next four. Pack some patience, grab a teddy bear, and let the kids stamp their Kidcot stop in its cozy new home.
