‘Jurassic Park’ Animated Series Teaser With Original Characters Surfaces Online
Long before Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory arrived on Netflix, another animated dinosaur adventure was being considered for the Jurassic Park universe. That earlier project, however, never made it beyond its initial development, and newly surfaced footage is giving fans a look at what was left behind.
The proposed show was called Escape from Jurassic Park. The animated series was intended to build directly on the story established in Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 movie, with familiar characters returning for another adventure.
The concept would have revolved around John Hammond trying to bring the park back to life, while BioSyn looked to advance its own plans involving the dinosaurs.
A pitch film was produced to demonstrate the series’ intended appearance, but a complete episode was never made. The project had a substantial amount of groundwork behind it: animator Will Meugniot was in charge, and artist William Stout helped shape the designs.
The footage mixed traditional animation with CGI, creating a distinctive look for the unrealized production.
The material recently appeared on X (formerly Twitter), where Jurassic Library shared the pitch trailers on October 31, 2026. The account described the discovery as a long-awaited find and said more details would be coming. Although some viewers have raised questions about whether the footage is authentic or AI-generated, Jurassic Library has insisted that it is genuine, telling commenters, “It’s real. We don’t post fakes.”
After all of these years, it has finally been found!

Jurassic Outpost has also reportedly verified the teaser’s authenticity, as FirstShowing.net notes, “The JP fan site Jurassic Outpost has confirmed that it’s real and verified it with previously discovered production material.”
Steven Spielberg’s Role in the Series That Never Happened
The animated project ultimately failed to move into production, despite plans for a 23-episode first season. Details of that proposed season were previously reported by Jurassic Outpost in 2016, which also discussed the one-minute pitch film.
The reasons for the cancellation have been linked to Spielberg’s reluctance to take on another major Jurassic Park project so soon after the first movie. Stout later recalled that the filmmaker was burned out on the franchise, while other accounts suggest Spielberg was unhappy that the series had been commissioned without his involvement.
The newly resurfaced footage provides a glimpse of an alternate path for the franchise, one that could have brought its dinosaurs and characters to television decades earlier. Instead, Escape from Jurassic Park remains an intriguing project that audiences never got to experience.
