‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Officially Wraps Filming as Netflix Eyes 2027 Premiere

Netflix has finally delivered the update Wednesday fans have been waiting for, and it means the countdown to Nevermore’s next chapter can officially begin.

After months of cameras rolling, casting announcements, new locations, and plenty of secrecy surrounding what comes next for Wednesday Addams, the series has reached one of its biggest milestones yet.

There is still a wait ahead before Jenna Ortega returns to our screens, but the pieces are falling into place. And after the way Wednesday Season 2 left Wednesday, Enid, the Addams family, and several other characters, Season 3 has plenty of unfinished business waiting for it.

The Long Wait Just Took a Major Step Forward

Netflix has officially confirmed that filming on Wednesday Season 3 is finished.

Production began near Dublin in February 2026 and continued for roughly seven months before wrapping in late September. Netflix marked the occasion by releasing a new look at Ortega as Wednesday, sitting at her familiar typewriter.

That might sound like a routine production update, but it is important news for anyone waiting for the series to return.

With principal photography complete, Wednesday can move deeper into post-production. A series this visually ambitious still requires significant work after filming ends, especially with its supernatural characters, environments, visual effects, editing, sound, and other finishing touches.

Still, the biggest uncertainty surrounding production itself is now gone. Cameras have stopped rolling, Netflix has footage in hand, and Season 3 is officially moving toward its eventual release.

The timing also gives the team plenty of room to prepare the new episodes as attention begins turning toward when the series could finally return.

Netflix Has Narrowed the Waiting Game

Wednesday Season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in 2027.

Importantly, Netflix has not officially announced a 2027 release date or confirmed the year itself. For now, 2027 remains the expected window for Season 3 rather than an official release timeframe from Netflix.

That makes the filming wrap especially encouraging.

Wednesday requires extensive post-production, so fans were never likely to see Season 3 immediately after filming ended. With production finished before October 2026, however, the team now has months to complete the next chapter.

Wednesday Season 2 arrived in two parts in August and September 2025. Netflix has not confirmed whether it will follow that same release strategy for Season 3 or release the entire season at once.

For now, fans can look toward a potential 2027 return while waiting for Netflix to make the timing official.

And whenever Wednesday does return, the story has some major problems to address.

Season 2 Left Behind Some Unfinished Business

Wednesday Season 2 didn’t exactly send Wednesday Addams into a relaxing summer vacation.

Enid Sinclair underwent a frightening transformation into an Alpha werewolf, leaving her future uncertain. Rather than simply returning home, Wednesday prepared to search for her with Uncle Fester.

That setup immediately opens Season 3 to a larger adventure outside the familiar boundaries of Nevermore Academy.

Tyler Galpin remains another major loose end. Wednesday ultimately allowed Tyler to live, leaving the Hyde out in the world and creating another potential threat that could return when she least expects it.

But perhaps the biggest revelation involved Wednesday’s own family.

Wednesday received a vision involving her long-missing Aunt Ophelia, Morticia’s sister. Ophelia’s appearance immediately created a disturbing new mystery, especially after the ominous message suggesting Wednesday herself could be in danger.

That cliffhanger wasn’t simply a last-minute shock. Wednesday Season 3 is already building directly upon it.

The Next Chapter Is Expanding the Mystery

Eva Green will officially play Aunt Ophelia in Wednesday Season 3, giving the mysterious Addams family member a larger role after her Season 2 tease. Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have indicated her return will have major consequences for the family.

Wednesday’s search for Enid will also apparently take the story beyond Nevermore. Netflix has teased a trip to Paris, suggesting Season 3 will expand its world while continuing the mystery established in Season 2.

Nevermore itself isn’t disappearing, either.

Wednesday and her classmates are entering their senior year, bringing them closer to adulthood. Ortega has indicated that those questions about the future will factor into the new season.

Netflix is also adding several new faces.

Winona Ryder joins as Tabitha, alongside newcomers Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer. Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance will appear as guest stars.

Returning cast members include Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, and Isaac Ordonez.

Tim Burton is also back as an executive producer and director.

The Wait Is Entering Its Next Phase

There are still plenty of mysteries surrounding Wednesday Season 3.

Netflix hasn’t revealed an exact premiere date or officially confirmed a 2027 release, and many of the new characters remain deliberately mysterious. We also don’t know exactly how Wednesday’s search for Enid, Tyler’s uncertain future, and Ophelia’s arrival will eventually collide.

But one major hurdle is officially behind the series.

Filming is finished.

After spending much of 2026 in production, Wednesday Season 3 can now move through the lengthy process that will transform everything filmed for the new season into the finished episodes fans eventually see.

For Wednesday fans, this production update is much more than a behind-the-scenes milestone. It means Netflix’s next trip into the strange world of Nevermore has taken a significant step toward becoming a reality.

The wait isn’t over just yet.

But with production wrapped and a 2027 premiere currently expected, Wednesday Addams is getting closer to opening Nevermore’s doors once again. Netflix just hasn’t made that 2027 timing official yet.
