Disney Confirms Guests To Ride New Indiana Jones Attraction Early

A Disney park has finally broken its silence on one of its most puzzling closures, and fans of a certain whip-cracking archaeologist have reason to be optimistic.

After over a year of darkness, a major Indiana Jones attraction is edging closer to its return.

Indiana Jones Around the Disney Parks

Disney currently operates multiple Indiana Jones attractions worldwide, including Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland in California, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull at Tokyo DisneySea, and Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril at Disneyland Paris.

Another is on the way. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is developing its own Indiana Jones attraction to replace DINOSAUR as part of the park’s Tropical Americas expansion, with an opening currently expected in 2027. Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent is under construction, with recent imagery showing work progressing at a rapid pace.

An Indefinite Closure

The attraction in question is Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull at Tokyo Disney Resort’s Tokyo DisneySea park, which closed on August 18, 2025.

Until August of this year, Tokyo Disney Resort has offered no reopening date and no clear explanation for the downtime. Guests have been without one of the resort’s headline experiences for over 12 months, an unusually long absence for a ride of its stature. It was not long after that that Tokyo Disney Resort confirmed the experience would reopen on November 30, 2026.

Why the Closure Mattered

Indiana Jones Adventure is a pillar of Tokyo DisneySea’s lineup, sitting alongside Journey to the Center of the Earth, Tower of Terror, Soaring: Fantastic Flight, and Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey. Its absence has removed a major draw during a period when the park continues to see substantial crowds and lengthy waits.

What Is Happening Next

With the November 30 date now locked in, Tokyo has revealed that a number of guests will get the chance to ride Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull ahead of anyone else.

Guests hoping to get an early look at the attraction will have a rare opportunity later this year, as a special preview event is scheduled before the attraction officially opens to the public. Applications will open on October 1, 2026, and close on October 15, 2026, with 25 groups selected as winners, for a total of 50 people.

Those chosen will be treated to an advanced preview of the attraction, along with limited-time drinks, a group photo session, and more, making it one of the most exclusive ways to experience the ride before the general public.

Indiana Jones Heads to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While Tokyo DisneySea prepares to welcome explorers back, Walt Disney World is building a new chapter of its own. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is transforming the former DinoLand U.S.A. area into Tropical Americas, a new land inspired by the cultures, wildlife, and landscapes of Central and South America.

Disney first revealed its concrete plans at D23 in 2024, with more narrative information revealed at this year’s Expo. DINOSAUR has since closed to allow construction to move forward. Indiana Jones will not be alone in Tropical Americas. The land is also set to include an area inspired by Encanto, the Madrigal family’s Casita, along with new dining and shopping.

With the attraction currently expected to open in 2027, Walt Disney World guests will soon have their own chance to join Dr. Jones on location, bringing the franchise to more Disney parks worldwide.
