9. Toony touches in style and décor
Mickey’s Toontown follows a layout much like that of Disneyland Park’s own Main Street, U.S.A. In addition to the residential neighborhood where many of your cartoon favorites homestead, you’ll enjoy the lively and vibrant downtown sector with its city hall building, police and fire stations, post office, and even a gas station—Goofy’s Gas. The flashy colors, non-linear buildings (there are no straight lines or square corners), and pop-out architecture are all definite callouts to the toons that make their home here. It’s just like stepping into an old cartoon classic short reel. Even the floral and landscaping patterns around town reflect the colorful personalities and nature of its residents. Such bold colors were chosen specifically to imitate the vivid radiance of Technicolor cartoons. And on one final fun pun note, for anyone who has ever seen the 1948 cartoon “Mickey and the Seal,” you may recognize the “seal” from that short as the same one that appears on Toontown’s “Official Seal.”
